  1. What is Nimble Cloud Volumes?

    A. Nimble Cloud Volumes provide an enterprise-grade multicloud storage service for running your applications in Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. It’s as easy to use as native cloud storage, but provides enterprise-grade reliability and features, data mobility between public clouds and your datacenter, and global visibility no matter where your data lives.
  2. How does it work?

    A. Using the Nimble Cloud Volumes web portal, customers provision a volume by specifying its capacity, performance (IOPS) and some optional features (snapshot schedule, encryption, replication, etc…). The volume(s) can connect to AWS or Azure compute instances and be used immediately. Nimble Cloud Volumes is a cloud service hosted and managed by Nimble Storage and is built with proven Nimble hardware and software technologies.
  3. How do I get started?

    A. Nimble Cloud Volumes is currently in beta and will be available in limited customer preview soon. Please click the “Request Preview Access” button above and a representative will contact you.
  4. Is Nimble Cloud Volumes pay-as-you-go?

    A. Yes, Nimble Cloud Volumes is a true pay-as-you-go cloud service. You are billed monthly based on your prorated daily provisioned usage.

  5. Is there an option to prepay for the service?

    A. Yes. Customers have the option to prepay for a set amount of usage credit. The prepaid option is sold at a discounted rate and credits must be used within a 13-month period.
  6. How is Nimble Cloud Volumes different from cloud storage such as S3, Glacier, EBS, and Azure Disks?

    A. Nimble Cloud Volumes provide block cloud storage and is a suitable alternative to AWS EBS (Elastic Block Storage) and Azure Disks. Nimble Cloud Volumes provide enterprise-grade reliability (99.9999% storage availability and millions of times more data durability) and richer data services such as instant snapshots and clones. It also provides data mobility so you can move data between public clouds and your own data centers. Customers also gain global visibility with built-in monitoring and predictive analytics.
  7. What are the supported regions for Nimble Cloud Volumes?

    A. Nimble Cloud Volumes is currently available to be used with us-west-2 and us-east-1 regions of AWS as well as West US 2 and East US regions of Azure. We have plans to expand into other regions over the next year. Please contact us for specific region requests.
  8. What SLAs are offered with Nimble Cloud Volumes?

    A. Nimble Cloud Volumes provide an SLA on IOPS (input/output per second) performance. For Premium Flash tier, the SLA is 99% and for General Purpose Flash, the SLA is 95%. Service credits are provided if the SLA is not met in any given month.
  9. How do I pay for Nimble Cloud Volumes?

    A. You can pay by credit card via our secure payment portal. Your credit card will be billed each month based on your provisioned capacity and IOPS as well snapshot usage. With the annual prepaid option, you may pay by any payment method accepted by your authorized Nimble Storage reseller.
  10. How do I use multiple clouds with Nimble Cloud Volumes?

    A. Nimble Cloud Volumes currently supports Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. Any storage volumes you create can be attached to AWS EC2 or Azure Virtual Machine instances and can be switched at any time without any data migration. Nimble Storage does not charge to switch between cloud providers.
  11. How do I move data between public cloud and my data center (private cloud)?

    A. Any Nimble Storage Cloud Ready flash array will support replication to/from the public cloud using Nimble Cloud Volumes. This feature will be available soon.
  12. What applications or use cases can be used with Nimble Cloud Volumes?

    A. Nimble Cloud Volumes can support any application that requires block storage. Common applications that can be used with Nimble Cloud volumes are: SQL and No-SQL databases such as MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc. Common use cases include running production, dev/test, cloud bursting, on-ramping data/applications to cloud, and disaster recovery.
  13. What support do I get with Nimble Cloud Volumes?
