Ned and Edna, those two legacy storage relics easing into retirement, have lots of company along U.S. Route 101 these days. Highway 101, as locals call it, cuts through Silicon Valley and is the premier venue for high-tech billboards, reports CNBC’s Ari Levy. (One stretch treats drivers to a snark-fest between three digital document management companies.) Billboards may seem a little old school, but are highly effective even in the era of Facebook, Twitter and Google. We prefer a gentler approach when it comes to the competition: We wish Ned and Edna a restful retirement, leaving the enterprise storage market to more vigorous contestants.
