Nimble has twice been recognized as one of the top places to work in Silicon Valley. These awards speak to how we feel about the work we do and the people we work with. One of the things I love most about our company is how we come together to support our local communities.
A great example is “Canstruction,” a competition in aid of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Canstruction pits department against department with each having a single objective: To build the most inventive structure using canned food. Our goal was to donate more than 1,000 pounds of food and $10,000 in cash.
I’m pleased to say that we easily surpassed the food goal. Together with donations from our incredibly generous co-workers and matching donations from Nimble we raised more than $20,000 in cash. An awesome achievement, and a major contribution to the Second Harvest Food Bank’s mission of delivering more than 1 million pounds of food to needy families in the Bay Area.
Not only was this a great way to show our support for our community, it clearly demonstrated just how creative we are. Check out the picture of this year’s winner, Super Mario, by the G+A and Support organizations. Honorable mentions go to Marketing and Operations who used canned food to build scale models of the Nimble campus and the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas! No wonder Nimble is recognized for its innovation and creative problem solving!
Lots of surveys tell us that people like to work for companies with a strong sense of social responsibility. I’m happy to report that based on the Canstruction, that spirit is alive and well here at Nimble. Great job everyone!
